  • Solo/Chamber Recital and Master Class featuring Alberto Almarza, Flute Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, Accompanied by Jennifer Lapple, flute & Dr. Ina Mirtcheva-Blevins, piano
    • Wednesday July 17 from 6:00p-9:00p at St. George's United Methodist Church in the Sanctuary.                St. George's United Methodist Church is located across the street from George Mason University (Fairfax)
      • 6:00-6:45p - Solo/Chamber Recital
      • 7:00-8:30p - Master Class featuring 2019 Judith Lapple Summer Woodwind Camp & Music Festival Camp participants who are selected by audition to perform.

  • Andrés Carrizo, Composer of the 2019 Music Festival Commissioned Work; Composer in Residence, Specializing in Latin American Music
    • Thursday, July 18 - Saturday, July 20
    • Three-day residency to include:
      • ​​2, performer-based/interactive master classes on the stylistic features of Latin American Music (performers chosen prior to master class)
      • 2, composition-based sessions specifically targeted to composition majors or students wishing to study the art of composition 
      • Individualized coachings for Cayambis Music Press Scholarship Winners/Recipients 
      • Rehearsals with Mr. Carrizo and Final Performance of 2019 Music Festival Commissioned Work 
        • Performance scheduled for Saturday, July 20 from 6:00-8:00p at GMU, in Harris Theater
          • World Premiere of Commissioned Work
          • Performances of Cayambis Music Press Compositions (by Cayambis Music Press Scholarship Winners & Faculty/Camp Participants)

  • Master Class with Guest Artist, Amal Gochenour, Piccoloist of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra & Yamaha Performing Artist 
    • Monday, July 22 from 11:00-12:30p at Trinity Christian School (Fairfax)
    • Master class performers chosen by audition 


  • ​Instrument Maintenance Workshop with Wesley Rice from Rice Clarinet Works
    • ​Tuesday, July 23 from 3:00p-4:00p at Trinity Christian School, Gymnasium


  • Recital and Master Class with Guest Artist, Ian Tyson, ​NYC Clarinetist and Former .Clarinetist with United States Airforce Bands
    • Tuesday, July 23 from 6:00p-9:00p at St. George's United Methodist Church in the Sanctuary.                St. George's United Methodist Church is located across the street from George Mason University (Fairfax)
      • 6:00-6:45p - Solo/Chamber Recital
      • 7:00-8:30p - Master Class featuring 2019 Judith Lapple Summer Woodwind Camp & Music Festival Camp participants who are selected by audition to perform. 
    • The master class will also feature a performance by 2019 Rice Clarinet Works Scholarship Recipient.
    • This master recital/master class is followed by Rice Clarinet Works Instrument Exhibit


  • Faculty Artist Showcase, featuring solo and chamber performances by 2019 Judith Lapple Summer Woodwind Camp & Music Festival Faculty.

2019 Featured Workshop Topics:  
Thursday, July 18 – 3:00-4:00 
o Audition Makeover with Kristen Spiridon: Learn audition techniques from master of the orchestral audition process, JLSWC&MF, Head Clarinet Faculty, Kristen Spiridon, who performs with three orchestras, two of which she is principal.  Performers selected by audition. 
Tuesday, July 23 – 3:00-4:00 
o Instrument Maintenance Workshop with Wesley Rice from Rice Clarinet Works. Mr. Rice will present tips for taking care of your instrument, seeking professional assistance, diagnosing problems and fixing minor repairs.
Thursday, July 25 – 3:00-4:00 
o Professional Panel Seminar with 2018 JLSMF&WC Faculty.  Hear from our faculty about their professional background and experiences in the field of music. Come with questions!
